This probably should have gone in technology, but no one really goes there.

This flying car is being made 5 minutes from where i live too.

I think this is the coolest thing, too bad it's $250,000.

Cool in that it's a flying car. Bad in that it still has wings so you can't drive it anywhere.

Where you looking to go, the moon? I'd be happy to get to Cape Cod in half an hour no traffic.

Here are a couple that are a lot more like real flying cars.

http://www.parajetautomotive.com...

http://samsonmotorworks.com...

I think they're both pretty cool. The Parajet model sells for about £50,000. The Samson Motorworks model doesn't have final pricing yet, but is expected to sell for about $85,000.

It is weaker in power and is not as advanced as a plane. It is a simple flying car, or car plane, which is a great step toward future technology.

Or a step backwards. I mean yeah making something like that fly would be some achievement but this seems like it is just to satisfy the nostalgia of all the old people from the 70s saying we will have then in a few years but never happened. I could buy this which would be very similar, better and cheaper. http://www.aso.com...

This is semi-serious btw. It's something that seems strange to me. You'd think that entire species would cease to exist if other ones evolved from them."

A powered parachute will top out at about $25,000. Usually much lower ($10-15). The downside is that you can only have 2 people, limited cargo, and you need grassy fields to land.

Does it come in Delorean?

But seriously, I think we'll see jet/car hybrids with vertical lift in our lifetimes.

Rome was not built in a day. We are doing research. It will get cheaper in the near future because we are spending time on research on it. It is a good start toward a new model in the future, where the wings will be folded when driving on land (without being expensive to construct), and something similar. Of course one of the first official models are not going to be the best.

Back To The Future reference? :P That is probably one of my favourite 80's(unless it was 90's?) movies.

Very cool, I wonder what kind of gas mileage it gets.
