Okay, so...most people haven't really been keeping up with this, but Venezuela is on the verge of collapse.
There are energy shortages, food shortages, significantly cut workdays for government employees, and mass looting. President Maduro has declared a state of emergency.

Venezuela has been on the verge of collapse for years and years. They have the largest proven oil reserves and a population capability to be one of the leading economies in the Western hemisphere, but their stupidity and ineptitude in relation to understanding the failures of Socialism has lead them to the brink of a subsequent economic collapse. Riots in the streets, mass poverty and starvation, etc. A nation with the largest supply of the most valuable commodity on the market is practically a 3rd world country.

Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself. -Friedman

Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program. - Friedman

Society will never be free until the last Democrat is strangled with the entrails of the last Communist.

You can't blame it totally on their socialist policies, though. Their main export is oil, and world oil prices are lower than they have been in a long time. Additionally, much of their power comes from hydroelectric dams, and they're in the midst of a drought.
