Within a span of maybe 4 months....

My dad died.

I broke my back, and had to get back surgery. Was practically a cripple for a year.

My girlfriend of 3 years left me.

I started to live independently.

I developed a substance abuse problem.

~~~~~~~~
The next 2 years after that were pretty bumpy, and well, sh!t, to be honest, I'm still going through bumps, but overall it has made me a lot more stable.
I'm a rock, nycka.
I'm sorry about that. I couldn't resist.
Nah, I wasn't really a burrito guy till later.
My gateway drugs were mostly psychedelics and reefer.
My mother started doing crack while pregnant with my little brother. State of California sent the rest of her children into Foster homes. Separate Foster homes. It would be 6 months before I could see another member of my family again and another year and half till I was able to come home. When I did I found out my grandmother had died a couple months beforehand . I hadn't gone to her funeral. I was 10 and I received no explanation till I was about 17. Wasn't all bad though. My Foster mom was a nice lady. And the other Foster kid took me under his wing, introduced me to his friends. And now I'm stronger for it.....I think
My family left the fundamentalist church that had controlled our lives for the first 11 years of my life. Biggest change of my life by far.
The things I can think of off the top of my head are having my face ripped open by a dog when I was three years old. Also, having my grandpa and my half-brother's best friend dying within a month of each other.
I've been experiencing psychological issues since elementary school, that I have mostly kept hidden. I was suicidal for about 3 years.
Sudden death of my father.
Fiancee cheating on me,
Fiancee leaving me after three+ years.
That was all in four/five months but in truth I was relatively indifferent to the latter two.
There is nothing worse than the sudden death of a loved one, especially as an atheist.
I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips.
Don't get me wrong I've had some seroius curveballs thrown at me.
My Stepdad was diagnosed with Stage 2 Oligodendroma in Jan 2010
Then in December, he got BOTH of his ACLS reconstructed at the same time.
Honestly, none of this stuff applies to me.
The worst thing I can think of is my constant everlasting mental discontent. I'm always seeking some new mental plateau that I know doesn't exist.
Nothing terrible that I can think of. Though, that might actually be a bad thing because my naturally conservative (not political) nature prevents me taking many risks in life.
Hmmm...I'd say periods of self-doubt and mild discontent...but that's not as bad as the perils that other members have faced.
Until about fourth grade my mother had untreated bipolar disorder. Her violent outbursts terrified me and my sister to the point that whenever my mother raises her voice we both get really anxious, and the higher it gets the more anxious we get. To the point where my sister goes in her room and cries, and I get out of the area for the rest of the day. The last time this happened was yesterday.
My dad is also a bit of an a-hole, which didn't help during those years.
I feel like a major dick for picking on you during that period. Didn't know.
