Any helpful tips at waking up? I have to wake up at 6AM and catch a bus at 6:50.

This has really been annoying me. Any help will be very appreciated.

- get to bed and allow yourself at least 8.4 hours of sleep. Lights out at 2130 (2100 even better) would be the biggest help you can give yourself.

- prepare your mental alarm clock. It's scary how accurate your mind is when it comes to consciously waking up at precise times. Just look at the clock and drill it into your mind that you want to be up at 600 and you will.

- avoid hitting the snooze button. This screws up the previous tip.

- Get on a regular schedule. Don't sleep in till 1000 on the weekends because it will start to throw you off.

- Don't eat at least a few hours before going to bed. Your blood should be up in your head, helping your brain do it's nightly duties, instead of concentrated in your guts digesting your last meal. This will literally subtract hours from your sleep.

I think that's the big stuff.

Go to bed earlier and then wake up earlier. It works for me.

Try and get exactly 7 1/2 hours of sleep, not 8. Your body goes through several sleep cycles each night, and at the end of each one is when its easiest to get up. Sleep cycles last 1 1/2 hours, then the next one begins. So you want to time waking up with the ending of one of those cycles. 7 and a half hours is multiple of 1 and a half, so thats what you want to go for. If you sleep for 8 hours, you're having to wake up after you're already 30 minutes into another cycle, which is hard.

Another tip. This one is kind of funny, but it works.

Get 3 alarm clocks. Place them in different places in the room, but make sure they're all as far away from the bed and each other as possible. Then when they go off, you have to get out of bed and walk all over the room to turn them all off. Hopefully you'll wake up a bit by the time you're done.

Last tip. I guarantee it will work.

You're going to need a Barrett M82 sniper-rifle. Grab a tri-pod or any other way to elevate the gun, sit the gun on it, and aim it right at where you're going to be sleeping. Set a timer on the gun to where it will shoot exactly 20 seconds after the alarm goes off. That way, you'll get up no matter what.

Hope these helped.

Another option is to simply go to bed at a very reasonable time and let yourself wake up in your own natural manner, which should be just right. The challenge is when you wake up before you actually have to, and then you say "screw it" and go back to bed to be awakened by the alarm.

Like everyone else says, go to bed early. I love my morning time, and get up obscenely early, and like Rob says, most of the time i just get my sleep and wake up naturally, but because i go to bed early.

In life-expectancy calculators, you are adding years to your life by doing that. By consistently screwing up your sleep, you might as well be a heavy drinker, a smoker, or a non-exerciser.
