So, I'm thinking about going to Annapolis. I was thinking of majoring in aerospace engineering. I'd have to serve 5 years, or 8-9 if I went aviation. I was thinking either SEALs or Marine Corps Aviation. What do you think?

Seals. Annapolis is a great city. Good luck.

I visited the academy in the one year I was in scouts.

Not my cup of tea but if you're willing to tolerate military discipline and hazing then go for it. I've heard hazing at annapolis is brutal.

I'm thinking you'd better be in the top 1-5% of your class in Academics, the president of one or two clubs, and are deeply involved in 1-2 sports all throughout highschool before you start seriously considering what you plan to do after Annapolis.

If you're not planning on making the military a career, don't waste your time. Academy grads get no respect from the enlisted side because it's like they manufacture pricks who care more about their career as an officer than they do earning the respect of their men.

And as a former BUD/s student, don't go in to that as some half-assed notion. You either live and breathe it, or you won't make it. It's not a matter of "Hey, that sounds like a cool job." No. If it isn't a DEEP desire, you'll never make it.
