Typically when people reminisce about how DDO "used to be", it gets chalked up to nolstagia and remembering things better than they actually were.

However, I just Google'd my old username and read through some threads from a couple of years ago. And God, I really do miss the old DDO. In those threads, although I was kind of a d!ck, I sounded a lot more intelligent than I do now. I put more effort into the "debate" aspect rather than just arguing aimlessly on the Internet.

And my crush on Cody Franklin was quite obvious :p

And I miss studentathletechristian.

Yes, this is another one of those threads. I don't mean any disrespect to the newer members of DDO, some of you are really great. But I do miss the way it used to be. To be fair, it probably has more to do with the fact that I've changed and care less about debating, and not so much about the membership.

But reading through the old threads, I do feel a certain "difference".

lol, that's true. Before I found it difficult to make it to the 1000 post mark. Now it jus as if i can get to a 1000 post mark and its no big deal. Not sure if its because my posts are shorter or because I'm more addicted to DDo than I was before.

I can't understand how you guys get hormonally-activated on the internet. Nobody even uses their real pics on here... If I can't exchange fluids with a beautiful woman, I don't see the point of any of it.
Beliefs in a nutshell:
- The Ends never justify the Means.
- Objectivity is secondary to subjectivity.
- The War on Drugs is the worst policy in the U.S.
- Most people worship technology as a religion.
- Computers will never become sentient.

That's creepy and disturbing. Several of us not only used our real pictures, but also have each other on Facebook. You already know this so I don't really know what your point is. I'm removing you from FB now... I'm sure you understand.

LOL, word. I used to get all into it when I was a kid, that was a lot of fun and all, but nowadays, it's just boring. I mean, we're all grown, so sex isn't this mystical, fantastical thing anymore. We've done all sorts of shiit with all sorts of women at this point, and it takes a little more than some naughty words you could get out of a lonely lady in the supermarket to get the blood moving.

But, you have to also realize that it's 2012, and I fancy there is a such thing as 2nd and 3rd base online. You can't go all the way, obviously, but I'm sure you could get pretty far. I'll bet it's better than porn. ;)

Not everything is about looks. You can be turned on by a person's posts because they are intelligent or are congruent with your beliefs. And I don't think anyone is suggesting their blood is "moving". I reiterate what I said to Rob: creepy and gross.

Ahhh, you're too serious. Turned on = blood moving. Okay, you're turned on by intelligent posts with which you agree. That's cool, but I can't relate. I like a lot of the things people say on here, but I don't have any sort of emotional or sexual connection with it.

Moreover, I don't have anyone from here on my Facebook. Not one. I live pretty close to a few people here, and I haven't met one of you. People clearly don't connect with me in that way, either. So, I don't feel bad about it.

But, I think what Rob was initially referring to was internet romances in general, not necessarily what you said in specific, which I read to be mostly in jest. :\

And I think you're taking the "turned on" thing too serious. Things can be "hot" without being sexual. But obviously when you read things people say on here you know who you "like" and who you "dislike" based on the things they say.

I don't see the relevance in what he said. Obviously the "crush" thing is not serious and I didn't expect anyone to take it that way. First of all, he's wrong about people not using their real pictures and he knows this because he has us on Facebook. Secondly, swapping bodily fluids has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.

A lot of people have moved on, but that kinda makes me happy. I think you outgrow DDO after awhile and I wish everyone that I miss the best of luck, though I am still friends with a handful on Facebook to keep in touch with if I ever feel compelled to do so. Eventually the discussions gets monotonous, and with new members you tend to have more frivolous conversations of less intellectual quality (since many of them aren't used to debating). I miss DDO every once in awhile, but usually I come back for a few minutes and then remember why I'm pretty much over it lol I really only come back to post about football every few weeks. I'll definitely check in from time to time for, oh, forever maybe ;)

It was only CosmicAlfonozo that he's met in person. I have to say that's one of the worst person to pick if your going to meet some one on debate.org.
