As I was re reading Peyton place, I realized that the character Allison Mackenzie is eerily like me (at least when she was younger) although I do have more self confidence than she does. Have any of you been stunned to find a book/movie/tv character that is exactly like you? If so, who and why?

I find it hard to believe that I could ever find myself like a character of fiction. At least, not very comprehensively.
Beliefs in a nutshell:
- The Ends never justify the Means.
- Objectivity is secondary to subjectivity.
- The War on Drugs is the worst policy in the U.S.
- Most people worship technology as a religion.
- Computers will never become sentient.

Martin from Candide-- I' philosophize rather superficially and I'm generally pessimistic.

That's not a fun answer at all.

What are some nihilistic anarchistic cynical pessimistic characters?

If we go by TV characters, I am a weird mix of Dwight Schrute, Barney Stinson, and Ron Swanson with none of the sexual prowess.

The closest fiction character like myself would be Marlowe, in Heart of Darkness. Sometimes in my more neurotic moments, I liken myself to being at the verge of discovering irrationality, though I often correct the relatively vain spirit that sparks such thoughts. So much for profoundness. :)

Not trying to be offensive, but when I read what you type, I get tired and imagine that I'm in my English class. Kinda funny in a way.

For myself, I think that I'm like Alex from Lockdown: Escape from Furnace. I have a similar feeling of consciousness, have similar emotions while reading, and have similar responses as he does. That was the best book I've ever read, just so well written and literally made you crave for more.

Based on comments on DDO that would be adolf hitler for me, but the people who make that comparison are intellectual dolts with no understanding of history. But he was a real person. Ones perception of ones self never matches what other people think. I would not even begin to know what kind of fictional character in a book or movie would be like me. There is no one like me that I have ever met fictional or real. If I had to choose I would say one of Clint Eastwoods characters in one of his spagetti westerns. Blunt and to the point.
It's not your views that divide us, it's what you think my views should be that divides us.

I would love to be a bit like Atticus Finch in 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. In reality I might resemble something from Wodehouse!

I said any resolution; I didn't give you arbitration over who would represent what side.

Since I'm firmly against indulging the fetish desires of Christian fascistic retards and the fact that there is no evidence support my position, I'm not picking that side. Either take Pro or pick another resolution.
