I have taken a look at the "reading list" thread, and most people are just reading books that fit their beliefs. I think we should all list one book that advocates an ideology/idea that we don't agree with and make a commitment to read it. Just a thought.

I always wondered what the lefts Atlas shrugged was, or the authoritarians 1984. The books that preach against the merits of individual freedom.

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. I love the book; it is one my favorites.

I think any conservative who agrees to this should read The Grapes of Wrath. In exchange, I will read one Rand novel of your choice.

I've read grapes of wrath. Atlas shrugged is something like 1200 pages.

Grapes of Wrath seemed like 1200 pages.

Watch the movie, it's a hell of a lot easier to get through, and it was done nicely.

I could try reading Leviathan by Hobbes. I think an AnCap/right libertarian should read Studies in Mutualist Political Economy by Kevin Carson.

I don't read based upon belief really. I read based upon interest. But good idea nevertheless.

I'm currently trucking through the Bible.

I really love the idea, but I have no idea what books are opposite my beliefs. It should be something like American Anarchisme, conservatisme. . . And liberalisme. . I don't know.

I don't think you read the book. They weren't all half-starved? They were more than half-starved.
