How exactly does that happen? I mean, i've made a lot of weird cooking mistakes (apparently boxes mean it when they say not to make stuff in a toaster oven) but nothing's literally blown up.

That's intense. Don't know how you'd manage that. Once I was making pancakes, turned the burner on, and the flames flew out probably 1 foot and it shocked me. Makes me nervous to this day to use an oven.

I once set a toaster oven on fire and didn't really know what to do about it (can't put water on it if it uses electricity) so i put on oven mitts so i wouldn't get burned, took it outside, and threw it in a snowbank outside the door. I just left it there until the next afternoon when my sister came home from school (it was about 2am when i set it on fire) and saw it and looked about ready to have me locked up when i told her what happened to it. To this day people try to keep me away from toaster ovens.

That's a good one.

My dad owns a restaurant and I worked there a lot as a cook. One time, one of the cooks turned on the griddle (a big commercial-use one, not a home use one) and went to take a smoke break. This guy was pretty lazy in his later years, so he was gone for a while. When he came back, the whole damn grill was on fire. The grease trap caught fire, and it destroyed the equipment. My dad had to buy a new griddle and he had to close up shop for the day. I was taken out of school for the day to help.

- Being generally free, well cared for, and able to pursue my dreams compared to the vast majority of humans who have ever lived
- Having loved ones to love and be loved by and converse with
- Being very intellectually curious and passionate about causes which leads me to become very adept at reading, writing, empathizing, communicating

What are you not thankful for?

- Pointless self pitying feelings about my "lot in life" (family finances/economic opportunity, family stability or lack thereof)
- Sucking at performing well in school and any kind of work that, for my life, feels mostly worthless and menial compared to what feels really important to me
- Social anxiety galore -- and the paranoia that results
