And no I don't mean the day of the year.

If you went on a date with somebody- what would be an ideal date?
That is, if money was not an issue. Anywhere in the world. I really mean "ideal."

On a different note, if you care to humor me, what was your favorite date you ever had, if you had one? Or, if you haven't been on any dates yet, what would be your ideal date within a realistic standard?

Thanks to royal for the thread idea. She asked me a while ago and got me thinking about it :)

Setting: Amsterdam

First stop would be the grey matter coffee shop, to sample some of the finest bud in the city. Then, on to a boat ride picnic for lunch. After that, to the Van Gogh museum. Then we would wander the streets for a while, find a nice coffee shop to have a drink. For dinner we would go to the grasshopper coffee shop/cafe.

Paris, a small cafe on Rue de Rivoli, on a rainy morning. Followed by a stroll through the Jardin des Tuileries and a tour of the Louvre, and capped of by a long leisurely walk along the Seine.
"The Collectivist experiment is thoroughly suited (in appearance at least) to the Capitalist society which it proposes to replace. It works with the existing machinery of Capitalism, talks and thinks in the existing terms of Capitalism, appeals to just those appetites which Capitalism has aroused, and ridicules as fantastic and unheard-of just those things in society the memory of which Capitalism has killed among men wherever the blight of it has spread."

Ideal:
Getting lost in some city neither of us has been to.. preferably a cool city... Eat dinner at some awesome restaurant. Then maybe night-swimming and finishing the night with some fancy, tasty bottle of whiskey or wine.

My favorite date I ever had:
Tripping in botanical gardens at night.

It depends on the girl, I think. The ideal date is one in which I'm with a girl whom I realize, at some point during the evening, I cannot be without. The date when everything changes, if you like--the date when I can't help but dream about the future, immersed in the bliss of the now. I would put together the date based on what I know about her interests and about who she is as a person. Presumably, because we're dating, we share an interest that really bonds us, and permits something we not only enjoy, but enjoy together. I think of the perfect date, weirdly, as a taste of a beautiful dream: something that couldn't possibly be real, and that I couldn't deserve in any world, but which nevertheless signifies the real possibility of a joy without end. A kind of "yes, this, and only this, forever." It's a night of laughing, smiles, good conversation, and feeling your heart beat in tandem with the fluttering of butterfly wings in your stomach. It's the slow breathing, forgetting myself looking into her eyes, feeling nervous going for the first kiss, and hoping that night is suspended in time.

Maybe that doesn't make sense, but the perfect date to me isn't really a thing, a doing, or a plan for the evening--it's a feeling, which is, at the limit, the most difficult, often impossible, thing to represent in language.

First of all, please refer to them as spectacles. Secondly, good news: we have two hundred more episodes to go. Good thing this hotel has a mini fridge :)

I don't really have an "ideal" date, but if I did, it would involve sailing in the Mediterranean at dusk, or a vineyard in southern France, or a ski lodge outside of Munich.
