If you had the opportunity of interning for a socialist political party, would you? Would you value the experience over your beliefs?

Asking people if they'd work for free for an organization they don't agree with seems like a dumb question. Now, if it was a paid internship, that paid pretty well, I think you'd get more takers.

I feel like that would hurt your resume more than it would help it, on average.

I was looking at it more as a social project. To understand the people that side, kind of thing.

What if the party was not outright socialist, what if his policies were like Obama- he enjoyed general good will but it was clear that his policies won't help.

Nope. How could someone support a project they don't believe in?

Experience, eh? I am not really sure though. I intend to work for the government, and socialistic policies DO inspire a wide array of individuals from the country. I think it would be a perfect opportunity to get to KNOW the people, the ground realities, if you will.

Couldn't u pretty much intern for any party though? Does the internship for the socialist party pay while the others don't?

And no, I wouldn't do it.

Even if the socialist party was the only one that paid?

No one else needs interns. They are one of those that are starting from the base, and need 'youth' to spur the movement and stuff. Plus, I don't think I'll get the level of enthusiasm this one would have than anywhere else.

The only downside is that it could be one added support to the movement, and I really really don't want to do that. Plus the resume thing too, but I can spin it around I guess. Or not mention it.

And its unpaid. Dude, SOCIALISM. We need to serve motivated by our desire to serve, not filthy frugal money. The focus on money tears the country apart.

Yeah, yeah. If you're in a place where an unpaid internship appeals to you, go ahead. Must be nice.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being too idealistic. Its 2 months, summer holidays at that.

Well, if it's not a hardship, and you're vaguely interested, go ahead...remember that if you don't want to you don't have to put it on your CV, but you can learn some things about your presumed enemies.

I'd definitely do it if I was paid. I'd be inclined to do it if I wasn't, but I'd require that it imposed no financial hardship upon me. I'd be more interested if it was Christian-based. I'm currently libertarian, however arguments for socialistic systems from the Bible intrigue me.
