I have a couple of avocados that I want to make guacamole with. However, they are very hard and not ripe. How do you make them ripened quickly?

"To ripen an Avocado, place the fruit in a plain brown paper bag and store at room temperature until ready to eat. This will usually take two to five days. Including an apple or banana in the bag accelerates the process, as these fruits give off ethylene gas - a ripening agent. "

Put them in a bowl with ripe bananas and wait for 24 hrs. Bananas secrete a gas that hastens ripening of fruit.

Oh, well I thought the actual way was to put them in a brown paper bag with the ripe bananas.

But then again I don't have a brown paper bag. So, if I were to put the avocados in a bowl with ripe bananas, then wouldn't the gas escape really quickly?

I'm not sure the bag has to be brown. Maybe try a different color and see what happens.

Just put them in the sun. Usually it only takes a day. And sometimes it doesn't even need a whole day.
