#55 - "I am going to give the nomination to myself. I am new here, but you should check out my photo album "Political Beliefs". I haven't seen one debater with more right-winged views as me."

A scary post in hindsight. But then again, the majority of my first posts were scary in hindsight...

Also the thread of my first post:

#1 - "Nothing more to say. I'm changing my username - I disagree with Ron Paul on a lot of topics. Let this be a message to everyone - never, ever, EVER make your username reflect your beliefs. So, this is my new profile."

Definitely a better first post than my first post on my first account.

1st was on affirmative action, 2nd was this:

"Gingrich and Romney, the corporate robot battle!

Romney's winning points:
flip-flops on almost every single issue
gets more lobbying money than any other candidate
better at avoiding people
better at lying

Tied on: Being the corporate jizz-jar

Gingrich's winning points:
clearly less ethical
gained more money through quetionable means than Romney
has more experience at destroying America from within"

Epsilon: There are so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero... never gets to see that ending. They'll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They'll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith.

I have no idea how to tell my friends and family this, almost everyone I know hates abortions and call abortionists really bad things...I'm kinda a mess because I know what I'm "destined" to do now just like my mom was "destined" to be a teacher...but even can't tell my bf and he's for abortion, or my friends I've joked with about it before. Idk how I'm ever gunna get the courage to follow this dream and this passion.

If I were you, I'd keep dropping hints till they subconsciously knew that was what you plan to become. And then, slowly they'd accept it as your decision. Also, even if your boyfriend is 'for' abortion, it doesn't really matter because this is your life decision. I mean, you don't live for people to make judgement about your choices. They would, but still that shouldn't concern you.

On an unrelated note, do you have a specific place in mind?

Something or someone far beyond our understanding created all this shiiit.. You can scientifically accept that if you want. Your proof is yourself and all the complexitys that go with you.

So your explanation is some magic sky being that is even MORE complex and unknowable? Seriously?

Apart from the fact that, although it may be complex and unknown today, you have no reason to claim that it is unknowable. I mean, i bet if you asked Aristotle how to explain the expansion rate of the universe, he wouldnt be able to make heads or tales about it. Where is your justification that complexity is proof of a creator, least of all, God?

If you walked into a room and saw a puzzle sitting on the table, completed. Would you think

1) I bet that this puzzle just formed all on its own.
or
2) I bet someone put this together, even though I never saw this other person and have no proof for his (or her) existence.

Led to a long and fun convo. Kinda weird reading over it all.

First comment was pretty random: (I had been a member for awhile though before I made my first forum post)

http://www.debate.org...

(Commenting in a game thread Freedo was running)

"I'm excited to find out what happens (and/or should have happened). I'd like to play next time you start one of these, so feel free to invite me if you need players that will be somewhat more active."

....

My next couple of posts were vote requests.

....

My 4th post was also a vote request, but it was the first post of more than a couple sentences, and the first time I ever said anything related to the site itself.

http://www.debate.org...

"60% of my debates have now ended with my opponent forfeiting. I am certainly partly to blame for this, as, among other reasons, I never check my opponent's debate history or investigate if they are more likely to forfeit, before accepting a debate challenge.

That being said, I was wondering if there has been any discussion regarding increasing the consequence of forfeits. Maybe preventing someone from accepting or challenging a debate for a week, or revoking their right to breed, would lower the chances of debates being forfeited. I don't think it's a big enough problem to implement those suggestions, I'm just curious if anyone has any thoughts.

Perhaps an additional 2 lines to the stats on the side of the profile would be helpful, one number for a debaters 'total rounds debated' and another for 'total rounds forfeited', i think this would be most helpful, and add some additional stats to be amused by."

As you can see from the underlined suggestion, my site recommendations used to be a bit unorthodox. I was probably lucky no one dug this up when I was running for president the first time. I don't think revoking breeding rights for forfeits would have been a popular position.

I do however still support the added "Debate rounds stat" and "Rounds forfeited stat" suggestion.

....

First post related to something personal:

(From the "You know you're addicted to DDO" thread)

http://www.debate.org...

"When your girlfriend is standing behind you wearing the lingerie you got her for Christmas, but are unaware and too busy to acknowledge it, because you are running out of time to post your round 2."

Variations on this for me now instead go along the lines of:

"...but you need to close this love-spammers account/investigate this multi accounter/tell Imabench to relax, so are too busy to notice."

Either way I recognize that I may still need to reprioritise sometimes.
