I received a thank you card for volunteering somewhere, and they enclosed a $5 gift card along with it. Should I send a thank you card in return?

My gut says yes, but that might just be because I'm overly appreciative :P

I would say no. They were the ones thanking you. Thus you can't rethank them for something they're thanking you for. You would just end up thanking yourself and that would seem rude.

Well I wouldn't thank them for the thank you, but for the gift card. Why would it seem like I was thanking myself if I was thanking them for the gift card? Anyway, now that I think of it, it does seem kind of silly to send a thanks for a gift card that was meant in thanks.

No need to. Just accept the gift and be thankful for it. :)

That's sweet. :-)
You do what you feel you should. You could always visit and tell them that it was no problem and thanks for the gift card in person.

I care about how to solve problems,
which is what everyone else should also care about.

No, 5 bucks isnt much really. Shoot an email and give them a thanks for the card not the money.

definitely dont send a return card, that's borderline inappropriate

Oh, sorry! :) I decided not to send a thank you. If I see her again, I'll say I appreciated the gift!
