Ahhh well. Lets see then, you could wait till I learn a bit more about Politics and Economics or you could choose a philosophical topic. :P

Well Rand claimed she solved Hume's guillotine (that an ought cannot be derived from an is) we could debate the validity of Hume's Is-Ought problem.

Eh, could you provide a quote to support that? My understanding is that she said that it wasn't a problem , not that you can't derive an ought from an is.

Exactly, she believed the problem did not exist. She believed that the "ought" of how to be can be derived from what "is". Mainly that existence exists, and this leads to a single choice: to live.

No, she didn't believe the choice to live was rationally chosen. She treated it as a given - it's a pre-moral choice. That's exactly why she didn't think it was a problem to derive oughts from ises - the first "ought" was, in itself, uncaused and underived from an is.

Epsilon: There are so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero... never gets to see that ending. They'll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They'll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith.

I don't care about whether an ideology is "necessary" or not,
I care about how to solve problems,
which is what everyone else should also care about.

Its helped, truly I have been touched by God and its helped. I can't stay long because (other than the completely unimportant fact that I have my STEP Maths exam on 8, 10, 12 of June, after which I will become active) I have a more camp sessions. ;)

On a more serious note, once I'm done with my exams I want to debate you, it irks me that we've never debated.

I have my exam on the 8, 10, 12 of June, but straight after I want to do our debates again if you have time.
On the "Verification Principle" I can debate right now as long as we can have 72 hour rounds.

I honestly don't get that reference. I think I should for some reason.
