Over the past few weeks, I've been noticing problems with my right hand and wrist.

My wrist has a persistent pain. It's had a persistent pain for a long time, but it's only gotten worse. As far as I know, I've never broken any bones in my hand or wrist. It also hurts to move the wrist a lot, and by comparison to my left hand, I have to put more effort into gripping things with my right hand - it feels weak when I grip things.

So...anyone have any knowledge of the hand I don't? Any ideas on what's the problem with my hand or what I should do?

And on that note of what I should do, I would put a doctor visit as unlikely.

That's unlikely even if I ask to go to one.

Sneak out to the doctor, to be quite honest. I'm sure any doctor would look at a 14 year old kid's hand for free if he told them his mother refused to care enough to have it looked at.

I'm several miles from the nearest doctor.

Sounds like it may be carpal tunnel, or other nerve damage. I would get a referral.

I though that carpal tunnel was more numbness and a tingling sensation...mine is persistent pain.

All three are symptoms, as is the weak grip.

Is your right hand your dominant hand? If so, it will affect your schoolwork, so maybe she'll think about it.

How much does a doctor visit cost?

That depends on what doctor I go to, and what the doctor does during the visit.

I was at work one day and the side of my wrist started hurting worse and worse. my job was hard on my wrist and within an hour it was in so much pain I couldn't use my box knife or tape gun. it hurt so bad I really thought I broke one of the little bones in it. I went to the Dr because I had work mans comp and it ended up being a tendon. may be the same for you. the only way to let it heal is to immobilize it. so you need a brace or an ace bandage and try not to use it for anything you don't have to. :) hope it helps

Yeah, my thoughts were carpal tunnel as well. Persistant pain can be symptoms of it. Common among gamers.

If you can go to the doctor, do it. If not, wrist braces you can pick up from a grocery store or an athletic store will do a decent enough job of helping you out. Obviously do your best to try not to aggravate it.

Necessary I'm not a doctor and only my sister is a med student.

what do you do on a daily basis? if you spend a lot of time at the computer its the lack of movement thats probably causing the pain from the lack of use. A number of my gamer friends who started off younger now have certain afflictions in their wrists. I've also experienced the pain from time to time. On the other hand are you being more physically active than usual, because on that side it might be the overuse.
