Recent scientific studies have set a healthy ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 from anywhere between 1:1 and 5:1. In other words, you should consume 1 mg of omega-3 for every 5 mgs of omega-6. When you consider the right dose of omega-3 for you, make sure to take into account your personal diet. Are you eating fish two or three times a week?Healthy Daily Dose If so, you may not need as high a supplemental dosage as a person who does not eat fish or other omega-3-rich foods. Additionally, if your diet is high in fish or high in foods with omega-6 oils such as vegetable oils and fried foods, then you may need to supplement with a higher dosage of omega-3 to achieve the right ratio. Of course, if you are taking prescription or other medications, make sure to check with your health care provider for the correct omega-3 dosage for your individual needs.
