How similar or different are you from your parents?

In what ways? Why do you think that is?

My father is sort of no-nonsense, but casual and mischievous, and I follow him to some degree in those areas. My mother I follow in general interests (arts, cooking, gardening), but not very much in general temperament. I do take after her mother and father, to some degree, as do many of my siblings. One half of her family is know for being anal retentive, stubborn, and driven, the other is more artistic and emotive. Since those grandparents have been almost constant figures in our lives, we take on those traits to various degrees.

Weirdly enough, I am apparently almost identical to my great-grandfather as far as temperament goes, whom I've never met. (My mother's mother's father.)

The title of this topic is sexist.

I actually made the title very intentionally! I'll explain why when I have a sec.

I am a bit like my father, and polar opposite of my mother.

My father was a very protective person who was a bit abrasive to some people, and my mother is a selfish and delusional person who is an utter narcissist.

It's always interesting to me when people are like family members they've never met. Apparently I do some of the same mannerisms of my father, whom I've never met. Goes to show the power of genetics and context.

I'm extremely different from them. My parents are alcoholics and into drugs and can't hold down a job, and I'm a full-grown adult. They blame everyone else for their numerous problems, while I take full responsibility for fixing mine. We don't even look similar lol. I think it's just because I saw how they were and decided I didn't want that. That simple. Though it's anyone's guess as to the appearance thing; I know I'm not adopted because my dad actually demanded a paternity test.

Ya know, ideologically I'm pretty different from most everyone in my family. But behaviorally and mannerisms wise I'm a whole hell of alot like my maternal grandfather and father. Pretty much a mix between the two.

Idk why, but that's the way I turned out I suppose
