here's a list of all the jobs I had:
race track promotional model - 1986 $50/hr
dancing telegrams - in bikini - no topless, no nudes - 1987-1991 $30/hr
cocktail waitress /swank nightclub - 1989 - 1991 Average $25/hr
bartender 1990-1991/ $20/hr
stripper private parties nude and topless 1990-1992 $100/hr
stripper in club 1991-1992 / 1993-1994/ 1997 average $30/hr
self employed - 1991-1995 designer and manufacturer of stripper clothes $15/hr average
mom 1993 to present most work for the least pay
waitress - 1998-2001 $15/hr
real estate sub contractor - janitor - (cleaning foreclosed homes to be put on market and apt. move outs) 2001-2004 $10/hr
waitress 2004-2006 average $12/hr
lived with my mom - full time homemaker and mom of 2 sons 2006-2009 no pay just shelter
industrial janitor in a foundry 2010-2011 - $8/hr
Auto Detailer 2012 - 2013 - $7.25/hr
Dishwasher 2014 - 7.25 + tips average $10/hr
Landscaper 2014 to present - $9/hr

Auto detailer was by far the most difficult job! Expected to fully detail 5 to 8 cars per week - every detail inside and out - including touch ups and waxing. My wrist has a piece of glass lodged in a tendon, so I couldn't even grip the hose gun anymore and had to quit. I did actually like the challenge and I took pride in my work.

Stripper, after my sons were born was my least favorite because I felt natural modesty about my body when I became a mom and guys seemed like babies screaming over my breasts. Before I had kids - I loved the dancing aspect of stripping but hated having to schmooze with the clientele.

I enjoy physical jobs because I still use the rhythm of dance to work efficiently.

I'm curious why you took jobs that offered less than your previous job instead of just keeping that previous job.

age my freind - lol - only young hot chicks can make money as a race track model or stripper - or certain cocktail waitress positions.

Plus I wanted my sons to respect me so I got out of the exploitation industry entirely, and took whatever jobs were available to me in my late 20's, 30's and 40's that had hours available while they were in school. Hours had a lot to do with jobs. You can find higher paying waitress jobs for evening shifts - but time with my family was more important. I lived with my mom - so my money went toward some living expenses and vehicle upkeep and for my kids.

I learned to make due with less and less and find it liberating.

Oh the dishwasher job was due to age discrimination. Waitresses were pissy toward me cuz I didn't have to put up with customer bullsh!t, and could work difficult shifts without complaining. My 17 yr. old son also worked their and they insulted me as a mom - over a phone number sheet that named someone else as my son's mom - so I quit - to work with mostly guys who respect my strength for my small size.

That's awesome, what do you end up doing? Does your volunteering make you want to become a doctor/nurse?

I deliver water and food to patients, and I talk to them. I also file paperwork and other stuff. It's a good 2 hours spent :)

Well maybe not a doctor, but something in the medical field.

Cool, I do something similar at a nursing facility.

It was eh. I was mostly annoyed because they arrived late with our lunch and all we got were cold tuna sandwiches (I don't like tuna). Though carrying garden snakes out of the way and off into the woods was pretty fun.

I would have to say my last job. I spent the first six months begging for something to do, and agonizing from boredom... And the remaining 18, finding out that all my colleagues had simply become accustomed to not knowing what to do, but had become quite adept at pretending... I was actually told that the company doesnt like to define (in writing) any procedure or policy because they didnt want to be held accountable (preferred wiggle room). I should mention that i was in the environmental health and safety dept. which was resoonsible for training and implementation of waste disposal, emergency evacuations, osha conpliance and workmans comp at the factory!!!!! End the end, I couldnt figure out why I had stayed so long!!!! Lol

I did tree work for sometime. Nice and hard labor, but I didn't care much for the other people that worked with me. I could stand the main contractor, but his cousin was annoying.

Work with roofs.

Installing roofs, and the component parts of a roof, on houses or buildings. Mostly houses, though.
