Okay, so Buzzfeed is bullsh*t. At this point it's like saying the sky is blue. Anyways, they created this privilege test, because God knows that we're all cis straight white male scum and we need to be ashamed for being born with privilege.

Here's the link: https://www.buzzfeed.com...

I decided to take this quiz to see my results. What did I get? 38 out of 100. Here's the description Buzzfeed gave me for my results.

"You're not privileged at all. You grew up with an intersectional, complicated identity, and life never let you forget it. You've had your fair share of struggles, and you've worked hard to overcome them. We do not live in an ideal world and you had to learn that the hard way. It is not your responsibility to educate those with more advantages than you, but if you decide you want to, go ahead and send them this quiz. Hopefully it will help."

Here's my real question: Do I feel privileged, without the results of this test bearing any weight? Of course I feel privileged! The mere fact that I was able to go on the internet to take this damn quiz says something about my privilege. I live with a roof over my head, food to eat, clothes on my back, and money in my wallet. Many people around the world can't say that about their lives.

So I have a few questions for DDO.

If you do take the quiz, what are your results?

And regardless of your results, do you feel privileged?

What do you think of Buzzfeed as a whole?
~missbailey8~

Me: What is the weirdest thing I have ever done?
Solon: Agreeing to date me.

Skep: Bailey, you have sardonic written all over your face.
Annie: She has gorgeous written all over her face!

"You live with 47 out of 100 points of privilege." I completely disagree with this. I am totally privileged. As for Buzzfeed, I never watch their stuff and prefer collegehumor.

Enough to live. I'm better off than most of the world, and worse off than most westerners - but not because of this test.

What do you think of Buzzfeed as a whole?

Useful time waster. Useless sociopolitical guide.

It was pretty funny to me sense I'm a military BRAT, so I obviously had to travel a lot in my youth. I also got a kick out of the international travel questions, because I lived in Okinawa for six months and Berlin for a year. So yeah, that defeated the purpose of those questions lol.

What do you think of Buzzfeed as a whole?
How Privileged Are You?
About the same as you are.
You live with 37 out of 100 points of privilege.
You"re not privileged at all. You grew up with an intersectional, complicated identity, and life never let you forget it. You"ve had your fair share of struggles, and you"ve worked hard to overcome them. We do not live in an ideal world and you had to learn that the hard way. It is not your responsibility to educate those with more advantages than you, but if you decide you want to, go ahead and send them this quiz. Hopefully it will help.

I feel privileged despite my results. I am healthy, working and able to provide the basics and contribute to our household. I'm glad I have had to struggle, it gave me an independent spirit. I don't have to conform to the status quo's ideas about achievement to be happy.

I have gender identity problems even though I'm attracted to the opposite sex. Guys like me till I open my mouth and express controversial views. Sometimes I feel like a gay guy - lol. My personality is kinda "dykish" but I appear feminine. So despite that I'm not gay, I'm treated as if I am. What makes it even worse is when people who are gay try to convince me that I am gay, since I don't fit in gender stereotype. Why does being a strong woman have to coincide with being sexually attracted to females, which I'm not? To make matters worse I don't get along with cis females, but usually click with gay chicks, which even makes me seem more gay. Then for being honest, I get called homophobic - lol. I don't care if people think I'm gay, maybe psychologically I am, but sexually I'll always love dick.

I'm pretty sure that most non-whites have not been victims of violence because of their race. Also, "can I touch your black hair?" or "you sound white" aren't indicative that you are oppressed or mistreated by the white majority.

I've had people ask to touch my hair because I have a pixie cut and people say I sound white because I have a typical "Arizonan" accent.

Also, ONLY women who have in fact been raped have any right to pull the "You're male so you enjoy the privilege of never having been raped" card. If you are a woman who has not been raped, then in this area you are every bit as privileged as your male counterpart.

Certainly some have, but many have not (especially if you're one of the "upper class minorities" like East Asian).

Certainly blacks are asked this, because many white people are fascinated by black hair. It's not oppressive though.

I have been told I sound white - so I didn't click the "I've never been told I "sound white".

The issue is, I'm white - so why the fvck should I answer this question and how should I do this?

I have been told I sound white - so I didn't click the "I've never been told I "sound white".

The issue is, I'm white - so why the fvck should I answer this question and how should I do this?

I took the test twice, the first time being more charitable to the intent of the questions, and got an 87.

As just one example, I know I've had moments where my midwestern accent has come through and people pointed it out in a humorous way, but I still checked the "I have never been mocked for my accent" box, since it's never happened to any significant extent, nor would I consider it mocking... and I could have probably made an argument not to check another couple dozen of these boxes for similar reasons.

The second time I leaned more towards thinking "could I make any kind of argument that this wouldn't apply" (If you have ever been alone in a room, then you can't check the "I have never been the only person of my race in a room." box, for example, so this couldn't apply to anyone if not taken charitably), and I got a 60.

I think it goes without saying that this isn't some kind of scientific, or even particularly insightful test, to any degree, but I think it's fair to say I fall into the spectrum of 60 to 87 on this test and that indicates a decent level of social convenience within American society. As a heterosexual white male, that people would just assume is Christian until they were told otherwise, I think it's obvious that this would make life in this society a bit easier for me.

And regardless of your results, do you feel privileged?

Sure.

What do you think of Buzzfeed as a whole?

I don't know much about it, but from what I do know, it seems like mostly a bunch of nonsense.
