I hate doing this but it's 1:30 am and I'm desperately searching for a confirmation on this: Is John Stewart Mill an "average" utilitarian? Answers are not enough, I need sources. I was under the impression that he was, but I'm not able to confirm it with my web searches and I'm ready to pull out my hair.

Is that what you're looking for?

It doesn't seem to explicitly state whether Mill was an average one though. By average I mean in contrast to Bentham's total utilitarianism, not as in typical utilitarian.
