Does it not make you sound smarter in philosophy?

Yes, it makes you seem ingeniosus lol. I personally think that it adds unnecessary confusion to the discussion, but there are exceptions where it is better to use latin, such as in this debate

Latin proves that science and philosophy are just other forms of magic with their own magic incantations.

We should have a new LATIN in the sense that. It was a universal language in which no matter which country you go to in western Europe you could always speak to people because the would know there home language and latin.. (well amoung the educated) we could use such a universal world language now. So everybody could communicate, with each other.

It increases you vocabulary allot; hence why I'm thinking of taking it.

not really. Learning Latin is overrated..the most it helps you in is for the prefixes and suffixes of scientific and philosophical terms and perhaps the origins of a few words. It doesn't increase vocabulary. Plus, it's boring

That one is a myth. The only thing it helps with is etymologies and inferring the meanings of technical words by cognates. Most the time you will be doing language comprehension from simplified classical texts. I found it fun but one word of warning, it's much harder than most contemporary western European languages.

I did it to GCSE level (until age 16).

Other languages do the same, and you can speak to others in that language.

The Fool: that is so Niave you do know that asians Indian and further eastern make up a ridiculus over wheming of the major of people on earth. English is not as popular as you think. And another problem with that is that people are stubborn to change thier language because they will say well why don;t you take ours. In Canada the French are soo stubborn with that, they will never accept that!

If we could develop a neutral and more logical language. With a systematic way of creating new word. and holding definitions constance.
