What do you think the importance is of fully devoting to something when it comes to having a sense of fulfillment in life?

It works unless you realize your wrong/misguided.

Then, and working up to that point, it might cause a bit of very distressing struggle.

I'd say you should aim to be Fully Engaged with what you care about... but try to keep perspective..
The word "devotion" kind of implies an uncritical, absolute, conformity with.. that rigidity can cause trouble :P

that's what I'd consider my sage advice, but most people don't need to hear that :)
