Background Info. : Good men are capable of unspeakable evil. Evil men surpise us with thei ocasional good.
In the worst recorded train disaster n the world, Saharsa 1981, many swam safety from the River Bagmati, only to be killed by local villagers as they sought possession of ornaments and loose change.
Hobbes, an influential thinker of his time, viewed mankind in a very negative wy. He claimed that people had a strong dsire to attain power. Hobbes saw the original human state as corrupted and evil. He saw people as self-centered monsters without master. Voltaire, another European philosopher, believed that through education and reason man could separate himself from the beasts.
Thus, the question whether man is inherently good or evil does not fetch a straightforward answer. This is not surprising. Most philosophical questions do not give a binary answer. If they did, philosophy would cease to exist.

So which do you think is the true characteristic of man kind? Good or evil?

Both. We kill insects, animals, people, rape, terrorize....We also help each other, donate, self-sacrifice for others....So, we are a strange species.

1) Good and evil are subjective terms.

2) Human behavior is far more complex than those simplistic categories suggest.

3) A mass of people are not inherently anything. Each person's character is a function of individual circumstances.

So the question is ridiculous in and of itself.
