The four causes...
Intrinsic:
Formal cause
Material cause

Extrinsic:
Efficient cause
Final cause

What's your views of the Four Causes, as well as Aristotle's theory that substances are a compound of form and matter, a-la hylemorphism?

"primal man had the habit, when he came into contact with fire, of satisfying the infantile desire connected with it, by putting it out with a stream of his urine... Putting out the fire by micturating was therefore a kind of sexual act with a male, an enjoyment of sexual potency in a homosexual competition."

Zmike,

Not that I disagree. It sounds a lot like Feser.

Yes, well, he's a Thomist which is pretty much just a Christianized Aristotelian...

But you can read where Aristotle discusses the causes in his Metaphysics (I believe that was it)

I think God is the final cause. And I have no problem with Aristotle's theory of hylemorphism as described here. p
