Okay, so, according to the butterfly effect, a small force, like a butterfly wing flap, can cause something major, like a tornado. Even though it doesn't make any sense, let's try's making our own. Just keep adding to this and see how major this can get! Please just keep this moving and don't make any unlikely jumps.

Are we supposed to do this with non-mental cause and effect, or can we bring agents into it? It seems like the easiest way to get this going is by appealing to agents, but I'm afraid that might be cheating.

A rabbit hears the acorn and raises its head to look in its general direction.

Rami - it's fine. Just keep it reasonable.

The rabbit was on the road, and a car hits the bird before it gets the rabbit.

The person who hit it was hitler, and since he was so upset with life, and the death of the bird, he went on an war/systematic Murder spree.

Since someone messed around, I state that the previous two posts do not count and should be contiuned from the car hits bird post.

Rami - I explicitly stated that I didn't want any big jumps. I didn't want it to be like 'this was a one-of-kind-bird that ate predators of the honeybee and now the predators eat all the honeybees and since they can't pollinate food everyone dies. Make jumps smaller, like everyone else did so far.

I guess this could be considered a game. I'll make another forum like you suggested.

I am beginning to have serious doubts as to the overall intellectual capacity of the folks here at DDO.

I mean, here we have an OP with an excellent idea for a thread, one that could be engaging and educational, even, insofar as chaos theory is concerned, and it cannot even last more than four posts before denigrating into juvenile banter.

We did a similar thought experiment in one of my college Mathematics (yes--math!) classes. It was awesome and was very helpful in understanding chaos and entropy and the statistical method.

Not so much 'round here, though.
