There are plenty of people that continue to say that everyone deserves to be happy, but does everyone? Are there just some people who don't deserve to be happy? Is there any possible criteria? What about people who look at themselves in the mirror and think that they don't deserve happiness?

No one deserves happiness, you have to earn it like everything else. Ain't nothing free.
Beware of the people who are in your circle but are not in your corner.

And with the stroke of a pen people 18 to 21 who own a gun became criminals and public enemy #1 having committed no crime and having said nothing. Just like the Jews in Germany during WW2. Must be a weird feeling.

When I hear people crying and whining about their first world problems I think about the universe with everything in it and people in wheelchairs and all of their problems go away.

Everyone who's managed to become happy deserves it.

Does that mean that those who aren't happy in life don't deserve to be?

What's interesting here is the difference between "deserve happiness" and "should be happy." I don't dispute that everyone should be happy, that's probably the only universal goal in everyone's lives. But to actually be happy, you would have had to do something to earn it. And this means that everyone who's happy has done that, and deserves the happiness they got.
