From my memory, he argues the mind doesn't exist and since our mind sometimes tricks us, we can't use the intuition of the cogito. His argument is really centered around showing that most of our intuitions are false and jumping to materalism with that.

It's an okay argument against solipsism because our mind can't be wrong if there's nothing else to establish "truth" with respect to it, but I don't see how he gets to materialism from there. A lot of people conflate idealism with solipsism.
