The state is a tool for the domination of one class by another. The way in which the capitalist minority is able to subjugate the proletarian majority and expropriate the wealth it creates is through its control of the state. The state is a committee for the managing of the common affairs of the ruling class.

This is the fact of the matter. All those that see this are socialist. But we can further divide this group into two broad categories. These are the reformers and the radicals.

The reformers think that the State can be tamed; that it can be transformed from the tool of oppression into an instrument of the people. They think that lead can be transmuted into gold, or poison into food with the wave of a fairy wand or an enchanted parchment.

If only we could get the right people in control of the state, they say, then all would be well and fine.

To that the radicals retort with this line of Burke: "In vain you tell me that Artificial Government is good, but that I fall out only with the Abuse. The Thing! the Thing itself is the Abuse!"

There is only one answer to the question, "What can be done to reform the State?" Nothing. The State cannot be reformed. With the exception of a few unimportant little improvements, there is absolutely nothing to do but demolish it.
"What we really ought to ask the liberal, before we even begin addressing his agenda, is this: In what kind of society would he be a conservative?" - Joseph Sobran

If only it were possible for three anarchists on an insignificant social networking site to overthrow the government...
