Which republican president was the best republican president in most eyes?

Which democrat president was the best democrat president from most people's point of view?

Which President do people think regardless of party orientation, was the best President based on what he accomplished or what he stood for?

I'm curious to hear what people think.

I think most conservatives would say Reagan. I would say either Lincoln or Eisenhower.

coolidge, cleveland, cleveland.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

Polk.
I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips.

Lol. Well, "who do most people think was the best Democratic/Republican president?" is a useless question.

Useful would be "who was the best Democratic/Republican president, and why?"

Again most? Clinton

Reagan

Most people have a really bad knowledge of history and probably don't know who FDR was. I am happy that the grip of the Kennedy myth has been steadily dissipating. There was a time in my life, particularly in my area where JFK was the messiah.

I must admit when I answered this earlier I was rather sleepy and hence didn't notice what the question was. So disregard.

Yes, to show how tough he was, we went through his inaugural speech and parade without his coat (Ooooo, tough guy), developed pneumonia and died.

I am a democrat, but I do not know. I do not really like many. Maybe Mark Warner?

Which President do people think regardless of party orientation, was the best President based on what he accomplished or what he stood for?

Ron Paul.(Way To Old, but who knows)
Gary Johnson.
Rand Paul

I'm curious to hear what people think.

I would vote Obama over many Republicans.

It is hard to tell since we cannot say for sure how the different presidents would have acted under different periods. E.g., George Bush facing the same problems as Abraham Lincoln might be doing things far better than when he faced the problems that he did.

Best Republican: Teddy Roosevelt
Best Democrat: Andrew Johnson (not really a Democrat by modern ideology, but he was still awesome)
Best period: Washington/Lincoln. They're both equal in my eyes.

Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt, but they were both very progressive. Most Republicans today would have laughed at their beliefs, especially TR's.

For me, it's Lincoln and Teddy, but most teabaggers love some Reaganomics (increased deficits, out of control military spending, and a big give-away to the rich).

But I do respect Ike, but he was pretty much a moderate.

Which democrat president was the best democrat president from most people's point of view?

FDR all the way! Kennedy is also seen as a party favorite. And don't forget about big daddy Clinton

Which President do people think regardless of party orientation, was the best President based on what he accomplished or what he stood for?

Definitely Lincoln. FDR as a very, very close second. Teddy Roosevelt in third.
