I used to think my vote didn't matter, then I realized: what if everyone thought that way? And what about all the people who died so that I would have the right to vote? And you never know, my vote could make a difference.

I lol'd.

Full disclosure: I'm registered and I plan to vote for Ron Paul in 2012, even though I realize it's totally irrational.

LOL

During the last Canadian federal election I was sleeping. Another one is coming up next month. They hold federal elections so often I just don't care. And I really don't care whether Liberal or Conservative win. Either way, tuition fees are going up.

It's probably going to be Liberal since there was all that stuff going on with Harper and such. I was going to vote Conservative until I found all that out.

Conservatives aren't losing votes though (I think I read somewhere that their votes are going up?). It's the fact that NDP is basically giving up lol and their votes are going to Liberal.

I haven't done enough research on this election to vote anyway. I probably should. So far I've just seen ad hominems from both parties.

I believe that is the legal definition of "modern politics."

There should be a thread for the ad hom commercials haha

or just all the funny lame commercials in general. I think we should do that. I would love to see some of them.

Technically this gets the job done but I would think voting for someone who is actually alive would turn more heads. I think that for once, the people ought to select their candidates instead of the candidates selecting themselves. No one is selecting Donald Trump but when he maneuvers himself into the position where the people have only two choices (and the other one is a known socialist), they will have little choice.

Wouldn't it be cool if people ignored the election and voted for their own candidates?

Wait you consider Obama a socialist? That's a bit surprising...

Isn't that what primaries are for?

I wish I didn't have to vote.
It's just a choice between a turd sandwich and a giant douche.

Wow, it just sank in that voting is compulsory in Australia. I knew but was never properly outraged by that. Is "I thought one candidate was a turd sandwich and the other was a giant douche" accepted as a sufficient reason for not voting?

If you're going to do a write-in, only a dead or fictional person will do!
