Here is a link to an interesting article. It lists some of the flaws of the USPS, and it got me thinking. Should we demolish the USPS? I think yes, because if someone does feel the need to send a letter, they can pay a small fee or pay a few bucks a year to Fedex/UPS in order to send letters. Receiving letters would have no cost, as the sender would have to pay. Not only that, the USPS wouldn't be wasting billions of dollars and building a deficit.

What are your thoughts?

Destroy it. It's just a tool for junkmail and marketing these days. Email saves paper and gasoline.

Yep. It's a thing of the past, and private shipping is perfectly viable nowadays.

I have claimed this myself. If we get rid of the USPS; UPS and FedEx will pick up the slack and it will be jobs that are not paid for by tax dollars.

Isn't it written into the constitution?

Yes, it has the power to. It doesn't mean it has to.

I think it needs to be replaced with a national cellular service. The founders didn't have telephones back then but they would have chose that if they did. Same purpose.

Why have a national service when such services already exist?

Especially when federal services are notorious for inefficiency and waste?
