So, as most of you probably know, I am a strong Hereditarian (in that I believe genes/heredity play a significant role in determining individual differences in Intelligence and Personality)

This also heavily influences my Libertarian (and formerly Conservative) political beliefs...

I was wondering what the general view of Hereditarianism is on DDO... It seems as if most DDOers are anti Hereditarian (I have been called a racist many times)... And, are there any other strong Hereditarians active on DDO?

I'm sure as hell not one.

In many ways, I do dislike it--namely that I can't really style it or change how it looks--my hair is like a dictator: it's gonna do what it want's and fvck you if you disagree.

People actually refer to it as a jew-fro. Interesting choice of words...

I think our experiences are a bit of a reverse: you see a more-or-less younger version of yourself; I see an older version, on the other hand...

It would probably be even more unsettling if Contradiction actually responded to my posts right now...

Speaking of Asians, I never understood the white supremacists that counted on hereditary qualities to indicate their place, by their logic they would be serving the Asians.

They don't view Asians as superior. They emphasize their own races abilities, and ignore most of the rest.

Sort of like the fake history that racismisawsome is posting in the other thread?

Gene's tell you your starting points. They also say which paths will be harder, and which will be easier. But they have no direct impact on your end point.

"He said that after he conquered Russian territories."
I'd say partially, since Operation Barbarossa in particular led to German control over Belarus, Ukraine, and the Baltic states, plus parts of Russia proper west of Moscow....though the operation did fail strategically in defeating the USSR....

"There was much propaganda by the Soviet government making everyone scared of the Nazis."
??? Why were the Soviet Unions making propaganda that made everyone scared of the first place?
"After the war, once the Russians realized the Nazis were not evil invaders and they actually were trying to help the Russian people, he would have given back their guns."
So the Russians had actually confiscated the Nazis of their guns beforehand?

Well, it may help to put this in biological perspective.

Think of genes has having a certain range of possible expressions. Imagine a map of various traits and their sub-groups. For instance, let's take intelligence. Moving along the map means lower or higher intelligence.

Assume that a certain genotype A will create a "circle" around a certain area of "possible intelligence level." Genotype B will also create a circle, some of which overlaps with genotype A's circle.

The embryonic and post-natal environments (what you would call "non-genetic effects") determine where in that circle a specific individual lies.

So, let's say that genotype A encompasses a circle of intelligence levels that are "higher" than genotype B. It is still the case that someone with genotype A and genotype B could end up with the same characteristics by both falling within the overlapping area.

When you hear people talk about "average IQ of a group x" they aren't say "all members of group x have an IQ of y." They are saying "if you draw a normal curve for the population of group x, the mean will be at IQ y.

If you put two groups together with, say, an IQ of 90 versus and IQ of 100, you would get two normal curves which significantly overlap. In that overlap area, there is no empirical difference in intelligence between groups.

When you say "genetics is everything" you restrict the genotype circle to a single point. That completely ignores the expression of genotypes.

Twin studies and such can help show the area of the circle. The smaller the effect of the environment, the smaller the circle of possible expressed phenotypes will be.
