In fact, there are 59 members in the 99th percentile.

Though you'll need to be more specific.

What "99" are you refering to? The bottom 99% of incomer earner? People that have been on unemployment for more than 99 weeks?

The 99% that are attempting to change the world for the better, in my opinion.

I'm quite certain that not every member of the 99% are in favor of the OWS movement. I think something like ~30% actually support the OWS movement.

I don't think that 99% of the population is trying to change the world (or anything for that matter). I don't think anything has ever had 99% support (though support for kicking out all of congress is getting close). Heck, I'd be support of the KKK is still around 2 or 3% (so those agaisnt it are only at 97 - 98%).

$343,927 or more will put you in the top 1 percent of taxpayers.

Thus the bottom 99% of income earners = those making less than $343,927

If someone shows up to occupy wallstreat, and says "I'm the bottom 99%, I make $340,000 a year", I don't think that he would make too many friends.

Senators make $174,000 a year. Thus each member of congress is part of the 99%.

The Cheif Justice of the US Supreme Court and Speaker of the House makes $223,500 a year, thus are part of the 99%.

The Vice President makes $230,700 a year. Thus the Vice President is part of the 99%.

OWS types breaking the law should be given fair warning, then arrested and fined. On the second offense, one week in jail; third offense one month. then on up. But I do think the death penalty would be too harsh.

On campus, fair waning then kicked out of school for the semester. Second offense permanently expelled. They shouldn't be allowed to take up space that could be used by people who are interested in education as top priority.

The purpose of pepper spraying is so they will not be able to effectively resist being physically removed. Fair.

Here is a Typical 99er

99er 28th November 2011
Who are the 99%? All of us who were told that if we worked hard and saved money we could retire with few financial worries. They forgot to tell us about the tech bubble, followed by the housing bubble, followed by recession and anthropocentric global climate change.

Climate change is not man made. It's a natural phenomenon, and anyone who says otherwise is selling something. I also fail to see how climate change is responsible for the current economic crisis.

Also the tech bubble climaxed in 2000.

Everything thing this 99er complained about has been is natural phenomenons that people throughout history had to deal with. There has been "bubbles" all throughout history; they are nothing more than growing pains.

They told us technology and medicine would save us. They forgot to mention the CO2 issue and environmental degradation; the cost of healthcare and the deadly side effects of pharmaceuticals.

CO2 is not a pollutant it's a nutrient, thus not an issue. The environment is not degrading it's simply going through natural cycles.

What deadly side effects of pharmaceuticals? What a ignorant and paranoid thing to claim, without any evidence o back it up. Typical Left wing nut claiming corporations are out to get them.

They talked us into believing that our homes would appreciate enough to buy retirement and that putting money in the stock market was better than a savings account. They forgot to mention that only insiders, brokers, players, and the already wealthy get rich from the stock market. For the rest of us it is more like carnie midway games—there's no way to win.

Insider trading is illegal.
You don't have to be rich to do good in the stock market. You just have to know what you are doing. My grandmother invested in Disney Land when it first opened and made a large sum of cash, but cashed it in right before it got really big, thinking it climaxed. She could have made allot more.

Our 401Ks, pension funds, IRAs, and Roths are built on a house of cards, but it is too late: we're trapped in the game. We hope the market will go up even though we despise the thought of corporate rule. We are at the mercy of the 55 wall $treeters who peer over the balconies and laugh at our angst. The corporations and the banks are sitting on piles of our money. They withhold jobs, pad their pockets, and offer us pink slips and .03% interest.

Typical Left winger blaming Bankers and Corporations for the recession, as if it was some kind of conspiracy. Jobs are an investment, if the obs or no longer producing a profit, they have to let some of the investments go to save their ratings, otherwise they lose investors, and thus lose even more money.

99ers only think about "me, me", they don't bother to think about the larger picture; all they can see is how it effects them.

And what are we told to do about this financial crisis? Go shopping!! Spend money! What money? We don't have jobs! We can barely afford groceries. Capitalism has failed democracy. Let's prove we can rebuild this nation with a new ethic, an economic prosperity based on creativity and progress not greed and development. Let's create an inclusive vision of the future where education and social justice are better choices than war and wall $treet.

This nut is advocating socialism. A failed system, that would just make us poorer.

The nut job is also throwing in conspiracy theories about wars being a product of corporations, which is loony.

"We're citizens not consumers." I read that on the Global Revolution live feed chat. It's my new motto. I am the 99%.

You are both. Your a citizen of the country, and your a consumer in the economy. I can only assume "global revolution refers to the Marxist idea of a revolution of proles.

you can read more of the nonsense here;
