I hear allot of people talking about paying a "fair share", when it comes to the rich an taxes.

First let's define rich.

After watching some OWS videos I saw many people claim that rich people have a million dollar salary, but those people are off their rockers, as you need a income of only $380,354 to qualify for the top 1%.

This brings up a second question, is the top 1% rich? Well not really, according to polling the 2 most common answers for what is considered rich is $100k, or $150k.

Thus rich is either the top 10% or the top 5%. To accommodate more people's perception of what is rich, let's say the top 10% of salaries is rich, but your not uber rich until you reach the top 5%.

Now, let's establish the working class. In most places the bottom 50% is the working class, which means everyone making under $33,048. Which sounds about right, so let's leave it at that.

So the Bottom 50% is the Working class, the top 10% is the upper class, and everything in between is middle class.

The Working class thus pays 2.7% of all taxes.
The Middle class pays 27.36% of all taxes
Top Upper Class pays a whopping 69.94% of all taxes

The top 5% of income earners pay 58.72% of all taxes, and the top 1 pays 38.02%.

So what exactly is fair share? 100% of all taxes?
At what point does it become a tyranny of the majority?

Fair is defined as "free from favoritism or self-interest or bias or deception". So wouldn't a fair tax be a flat tax?

What they have to remember is that taxing the rich won't solve our problems.

Not only are the rich responsible for providing labor supply and financial capital demand, but if they are richer, more jobs will be created.

This was evident with Reaganomics in the 1980's, when over a period of two terms, a whopping 16 million jobs were created.

A flat tax is obviously the way to go.
