Looks good to me. :)

But wait until 000ike, and Royal get here. I predict they will completely disagreed with this list, and that FDR will be in theirs.

I guess I'll have to stand in for 000ike or RPally.

I do consider that a ridiculous list. There isn't much that their cabinets did for the overall benefit of our country distinct from the other presidents. I'm not sure how you're weighing in their presentation, either.

My list is something like, in no particularly order:

Teddy Roosevelt

Jimmy Carter

Bill Clinton

Dwight Eisenhower

Franklin D. Roosevelt

John F. Kennedy

Lyndon B. Johnson

Thomas Jefferson

Barack Obama

(Steven) Grover Cleveland

These were (are) amazing presidents that do not receive the notoriety they deserve, IMO.

I like that you have Pres. Cleveland on your list, though.

Def. coincides with your core beliefs, the fact he was a democrat notwithstanding. And, indeed, he was an excellent president with a great vision.

Yeah, Lincoln, Wilson, also great presidents...

Hmm... perhaps, it wouldn't be so easy to narrow it down to ten.

That's pretty good! ^_^

Um, how does him being hit by a shoe make him any worse???

I mean, if that's how we judge presidents, Lincoln was freaking shot!

It doesn't, I just like to make sound more dramatic.

Oh, what an intelligent response. If that's the case, then explain why Warren Harding (who was #7 in the ridiculous list) is better than Lincoln. From what I hear, he is an obscure US president and served only 2 years due to a heart attack. Why is he better than Lincoln or the others I mentioned?

But seriously, let's not play the 'who served longer' card. Show me concrete proof that GWB was better than the others I mentioned. Or you can just admit that the list is bullsh!t.

Well, you agreed in page 1 without any objection. But I want you to show me is how GWB deserves to be in the 'best' list, and that dems like FDR, JFK, Obama, etc. aren't good enough to be in that list.

Well, Teddy Roosevelt increased the government's regulation of the economy, which still hurts us today.

Woodrow Wilson... don't get me started.... Income Tax, Fed, lots of regulation. He was an awful president.

FDR... created the foundations of the modern welfare state, which is a destructive force and his New Deal prolonged the Great Depression by 7 years.

JFK was president for about 3 years. He did do a good thing when he advocated marginal tax rate cuts, though. These helped the economy in the 1960s. But, he also advocated more welfare programs and more intervention.

GW Bush is clearly better than all of these guys.

Sure it does. Abe suspended habeas corpus; took forever to find competent generals, wasting the lives of his troops; declared war long before deciding to eliminate slavery (the only thing that justified the war he decided to engage in, "preserving the union" is bull**** that isn't worth a single human life), engaged in conscription (slavery in and of itself), and doubtless many more bad things.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

I'd have to disagree with you on Washington. The divide was inevitable, and not necessarily a bad thing. Consensus (IMHO) is more dangerous than contention in a government and society that is dependent on plurality. Furthermore, and more importantly, he set the tone for future presidents. It took particular self restraint to not turn the presidency into a dictatorship or monarchy, and it was his nature that really brought gravity to his administration. I think that Washington was a remarkable man at the right time in the right position. Just holding the country together was the primary job for many presidents to follow, and he did bring a sense of unity more so than others after him. It may have been somewhat mythic in contrast to reality, but he did create a commonality of purpose and definition within the states that was absolutely crucial for the survival of the country.

1. LBJ (Domestic Policy)
2. FDR
3. Harry Truman
4. Wilson
5. Lincoln (everything good EXCEPT suspension of habeus corpus)
6. Jimmy Carter
7. Obama
8. Teddy Roosevelt

I only have eight presidents on my list; most people with the job were atrocious.

I am not surprised that George Bush and Adams are on your list. You probably loved the Patriot Act and the Alien and Sedition Acts. So much for your anarchist beliefs.

Here are the 10 Best Presidents of the USA, in order from best to 10th best:

1.) Thomas Jefferson

2.) George Washington

3.) Calvin Coolidge

4.) Grover Cleveland

5.) Ronald Reagan

6.) George W Bush

7.) Warren Harding

8.) William Taft

9.) James Madison

10.) John Adams

WTF! Harding doesn't get on the list he died in office! He also ordered a naval reduction treaty with the naval superpowers of the world. The extra ships may have helped us in WW2. Grover Cleveland left very unpopular in fact some saw him as a Wall Street puppet in his second term and in the first he virtually vetoed everything! William Taft got rid of most of T.R.'s policies! Taft also occasionally slept while in meeting or at his office.

jimtimmy argues that those presidents are on the list precisely because they did nothing.
