Make what easier?

I think we need to make English the language of the US, so it can be required for citizenship; that would be easier than teaching those who speak English, Spanish.

I want English to be the one and only official language of this country. If illegal immigrants are bad enough to come into this country illegally, we should at least force them to learn our language. I will not make my life more difficult just to help illegals. Vote for English.

Absolutely, spanish is by and large an economically good choice in language to study--not only do businesses AND the public sector like bilingual people, but especially those who can speak spanish as well.

Fear of change? No. Why should I have to listen to a bunch of Spanish all around me if this is America? We are an English speaking country. Sorry if that offends the illegals.

There is no need for most people to learn Spanish. It takes a great deal of time that could be put to some other, better, use.

Its a fine language to learn, we just don't need a second national language.

All I'm saying is that America's demographics are changing. It starts to make more and more sense as the years go on. I mean it was like that before. In Milwaukee in the mid 1800s, german newspapers were prefered over english ones. I know legal families who still speak only spanish at home.... people dont give up the language.I still speak urdu (pakistan's official langauge) at home

maybe it's too soon, but if immigration continues like it is now, later on down the road it will become inevitable. In my opinion

English should be the Official Language of Earth, to make foreign relations more simple. Most countries are required to learn English anyhow, regardless of if that is their own language or not, because more countries have English as their dominant language.

English = 55 countries
French = 29 countries
Arabic = 24 countries
Spanish = 20 countries
Portuguese = 9 countries
Russian = 8 countries
German = 6 countries
Italian = 4 countries
Malay = 4 countries
Chinese = 3 countries
Dutch = 3 countries
Persian = 3 countries
Swahili = 3 countries
Tamil = 3 countries
Urdu = 3 countries
Serbian = 3 countries
Armenian = 2 countries
Aymara = 2 countries
Croatian = 2 countries
Greek = 2 countries
Hindi = 2 countries
Korean = 2 countries
Ndebele = 2 countries
Quechua = 2 countries
Romanian = 2 countries
Slovak = 2 countries
Sotho = 2 countries
Swati = 2 countries
Swedish = 2 countries
Tswana = 2 countries
Turkish = 2 countries
numerous languages other languages = 1 country

According to that logic, we should all be speaking French because at one time French was the language of the world.

You guys have GOT to be kidding with this.

why arent new yorkers speaking dutch?
they must hate tradition

The US (13 colonies) declared Independence from the British Empire, thus in the US we speak English. The Native Americans are a foreign nation according to the constitution, so we would not be speaking each others language unless trading with them.

New York was a dutch colony, that later became British; when the US was founded the 13 colonies, including NY was British.

English is the defacto language of the US, and it should be made the official language, under the power of the elastic clause, and the naturalization clause.
