She will be making a guest appearance on Nickelodeon's icarly on an episode where Carly illegally tries to contact her father via webcam while he was deployed, but from what I understand its primarily to send a message in support of the troops. (http://www.popeater.com...) Nancy Reagan had done the same thing in the '80s on the show "Diff'rent Strokes" and used it to send a message about drug use. So, while its not unheard of, I think it has the potential to be damaging to Obama's imminent reelection. Some dishonest Republicans will use this as a way to demean the Obama presidency.

Then there was the interview where she stated that she does not want to be viewed as "some angry Black woman" which I think was a bit unnecessary. No one had even known of the book she was complaining about until she complained about it. So, she leaves me concerned seeing as Obama is on thin ice right now and in the very unstable 46.9% to Romney's 45.2% (http://www.realclearpolitics.com...) Little things like this have the potential to ruin.

What do you think, are these significant or not?

As an avid iCarly fan, I was distressed that the show would be so sullied and turned from a thing of beauty into shallow propagandism.

Reasonabe people wouldn't care. But since she's the first lady The republicans will jump up and down, saying that she's trying to brainwash the children... Too bad most kids who watch iCarly are more concerened about their favorite singers than what happens in washington.

A message to support our troops is propaganda now? I'm starting to get the feeling that your dissent doesn't come from a disdain for the administrations actions, just a disdain for them all together. Republicans are such liars....

Well, the show is already got pretty dumb, as soon as the kids grew up, and they added all that romance crap.

If Michelle Obama wants to go on to put her anti-obesity message out, fine.

I might not agreed with it, but whatever.

Justin Bieber frequents this site?? I had no clue!
no, republicans personally don't support racism and slavery. Some policies that they want to pass or have passed can be viewed as racist, but as oberherr said, this thread is about Michelle Obama..

One does not have to support something to have no problem with it. In the 1860s, the Democratic party (which held many modern Republican values) wanted the spread of slavery, they sided with the South and did not want to go to war against the Confederacy.

In the 1960s, the modern Republican party outright supported racism and segregation. They viciously opposed Brown and did not care for the racial inequality of America at the time.

You act so suprised because racism and slavery are so unanimously opposed today, but believe it or not, this same party and the sentiment associated with it historically sided with discriminatory practices..

I used to watch icarly in 7th grade, but now not so much. Nothing they say is funny, some of what they do is annoying, and they're getting too old.

I have no idea what you mean when you say the modern Republican Party inthe 1960s - do you mean the Republican party then or now? The Republican Party was the driving force behind the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Contrarily, it was Southern democrats who were the driving force behind Jim Crow laws.

There's some element of that in the modern Republican Party but to equate it with the Republican Party is around as disingenious as saying that Democrats are socialists - again, there's that element but you're straw manning that entire political system when you over-emphasize fringe elements.

They'll try to concoct the argument that the Obama's are unpresidential and destroying the value and standards of the office because its not usual for a First Lady to come on a kids show. While I obviously think that argument is BS, putting myself into their minds, I fear they may actually say something and it would be taken seriously by the public,... as shown by the overwhelming support for Romney many Americans will believe and accept ANYTHING (false or not), so long as it makes the president look bad.

My little sister was walking Nickelodeon, while I was making a Bagel in the kitchen (family room is right next to the kitchen); the commercial for that episode came on, and both me and my little sister started to gag. Last thing I need when I'm about to eat is the picture of her ugly mug floating around in my head. Her face looks like an abused pug.
