If Ron Paul somehow loses, he's going to hold his delegates hostage in order to force his Libertarian policies on the GOP nominee. Those delegates, who forced to support Paul will vote on issues and change the outcome. He has nothing to lose (though he has to be careful not to ruin his sons political ambitions).

Btw, read the whole article to see his even more sinister tactic to win.

How is he at all sinister?

Third party candidates don't run with the expectation to win. They run hoping to force other candidates to triangulate their views to capture the third party's constituency.

Ron Paul is doing exactly what someone should do if they want to change the political system but are too extreme to be elected directly.

It's not really, just clever and a nightmare for Romney.

He will not run as a third party candidate. He can't.

Ron Paul is doing exactly what someone should do if they want to change the political system but are too extreme to be elected directly.

Except he wants to win and has a clear path to victory.

Let me rephrase.

I say "third party candidate" but the same tactic can apply to someone running within a primary. The difference is that the tactic, when applied to the primary, only triangulates primary opponents of one party instead of the two nominees. If Ron Paul doesn't run third party, you can bet "federal reserve" will drop off the campaign trail.

Unfourtunately he's not going to win. The next "Not romney" candidate will be Rick Santorum... You know, he actually won Iowa?

If he "somehow" loses, lol. Are you really going to be shocked when he does? Really, Romney is not likely going to need his delegates. So he is likely holding chips that Romney doesn't "need" so he can't force anything.
