About 3 minutes ago I submitted the following commentary to the White House. Though it will likely fall on deaf ears, I'd rather say something than nothing at all. I tried to be as diplomatic about it while not acquiescing either.

"I'd like to address James Clapper's reckless comments concerning Iran targeting the U.S. Let's suppose for a minute that even his deepest concerns are true. What good will it serve the average citizen to know that kind of (ordinarily) CLASSIFIED information other than causing a panic? This leads me to believe that this is very much intended and choreographed by your Administration for the explicit purpose of bolstering support for military actions against Iran. The same fearmongering tactics were employed against the USSR to gain consensus from the populace. Are we really reverting back to a draconian, Cold War mentality? How is that going to make us "safer?" The safest thing you can do is leave sovereign nations alone. It's worked remarkably well for the Swiss, yet the U.S. doesn't seem to learn from their good example. There is nothing I like about Iran or its repressive regime, but honestly, you are primed to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. The very thing you want to avoid (nuclear holocaust) may be the very thing that happens because of our penchant to tell other nations what to do. I'm sure you have the best of intentions in mind, but you need to be intelligent about this. This isn't some cat and mouse game, and you don't gamble on the lives of billions of people so flippantly. You and your entire administration need to AGONIZE over this decision. Because we're the innocent victims here standing on the sidelines who desire tranquility. Do the right thing, sir.

Very Respectfully,

I believe a total of 5 Iranian, nuclear scientists have been assassinated by car bomb. On the one hand I find it amazing that the reach and scope of the Mossad, the C.I.A., or whomever is responsible, is quite impressive from strictly a point of a view that analyzes the skill and choreographing of such a hit.

But you really can't call it anything besides sanctioned murder.

As much as it pains me to defend Iran in any way, I really can't think of a legitimate reason why they can't have nuclear energy. "Oh, but they're part of the Axis of Evil!!!" So is North Korea, yet we allow the, to have it. We almost went into nuclear meltdown during the Cold War. And realistically, the intercontinental ballistic missiles almost flew BECAUSE of much involvement went into it, not because they had it.

We're steering the world towards self-annihilation, not preventing it.

I actually agree with you on this issue. Nuclear energy might be key to providing a greater amount of their population with energy.

Yeah, I am almost positive that the deaths were caused by the Kidon and were sanctioned by the CIA.

I have no problem with they using nuclear power.

I have a problem with them having nuclear missiles.

All I want is for them to allow us access to the key locations in their facilities, without escorts, and if they come up completely ok, fine.

But, as of now, its exactly like what Saddam did.

I entertained the possibility that the Iranians themselves were behind it as a false flag operation to bolster support; that the people weren't really scientists, so they could illicit sympathy towards their side and condemnation for Israel and the U.S. But it's likely legit, which almost surely means Israel the U.S. is behind it.

And we all know how that turned out... Ironically, Sadam wasn't so much posturing against the U.S., but to Iran. He wanted Iran to believe they had WMD's more than the West, because he feared the Iranians more than anyone else.

He had WMD.......and anyways, why does this legitimize them almost certainly hiding nuclear weaponry?

He had WMD:

Right, past tense... IOW, before the second Gulf War.

why does this legitimize them almost certainly hiding nuclear weaponry?:

Because we heard this same kind of fearmongering before as the very pretext for war... and it was inaccurate, a huge waste of lives, time, money, and resources.

Even supposing they are trying to create nuclear weapons, what of it? You think you can keep Iran from possessing nuclear weaponry forever?

Suppose Iran stated today that the U.S. had no right to have nuclear weapons. Suppose you are the entire United States. What would your reply to Iran be and why?

How was it inaccurate? He had WMD, and we found them, and now he no longer has them. Not to mention he is dead, and we liberated very very, oppressed nation.

Yeah, I think we can. And even if we can't, so therefore we shouldn't try?

Suppose Iran stated today that the U.S. had no right to have nuclear weapons. Suppose you are the entire United States. What would your reply to Iran be and why?

Well, first the US doesn't want to blow the entirety of Iran up.
