Well, even though I still support Paul, it seems pretty clear that Romney is going to take the nomination.

However, after watching a certain Dan Brown video (I'm merely regurgitating what he says in that video here) and reading this, I've begun to think about the power that a ticket with Romney and Paul as running mates could bring; especially now that I know that the two are strategic allies, as well as friends (http://www.washingtonpost.com...).

An R/P ticket would be quite the flag for conservatives, libertarians, and some independents to rally around. It would be a beacon of cooperation between people, even though they disagree on issues. If that pairing happens, then there's a good chance that Obama could lose the election.

But what do you think? Would Paul be a good choice for Romney for VP?

A romney Susana Martinez ticket would be better as she's a woman and Mexican. But a Romney Paul ticket would be good as well.

That's the problem. Unless you're picking someone based on political beliefs, it comes off as a thinly veiled attempt at trying to get more voters.

That's why it wouldn't be smart for Obama to replace Biden with Hillary Clinton.

She is fairly conservative as well, but has a moderate view on some social issues making her a good choice for him as they agree a fair amount. I wouldnt vote based of of a VP anyway. I think Suzana is the best choice.

Ron Paul might scare away a few voters for Romney if Ron Paul continues to do stuff that normal people interpret as crazy (such as saying he'd veto the Civil Rights Bill)

The problem here is that people love to take everything out of context.

Well, it doesn't help that alot of his supporters are conspiracy theorists, and generally kinda crazy people.

Thats true of any political cantidate.

Romney/Paul doesnt sound to bad. At least Paul would have some influence, even though VP's generally dont play a major role. At the very least, it would give him more popularity and media coverage to spread his ideals.

I would definitely support that ticket, it seems that perhaps Paul is trying to do that. He defends Romney from attacks from opponents, he had good words for him with regard to his private sector experience and knowledge of the free market, and seems to lay off of Romney attacks and ads.

I doubt Romney is ready to take that risk. Lots of conservatives think Paul a mad man.

It's not worth the headache for Romney.

Imagine if he wins. He's got RON PAUL as his goddam vice president.

It would be epic though. Paul correcting him at every speech.

Romney/Paul would end up the same way McCain/Palin ended up - a failure.

Do you know why? Because Paul alienates people when all is said and done, just as Palin did. He has better cross-over appeal than the Governor did, but he will be hounded by the Democrats as a liability and there are plenty of things that scare Independents and Democrats about Ron Paul when you get past some of the liberal-sounding foreign policy and social intervention views. He'd end up being a big joke.

Plus, Romney's backers hate Paul. Why in the world they set up such a ticket?

I have to agree, too many "Americans" (and at least one Canadian of note) hate us for our freedom.

Its true. Personally I wake up every morning and say to myself, "bloody hell do I ever hate those libertarians for wanting their unrestricted freedom and zero government services." Then my taxpayer-funded public transit system makes me an hour late for college and the hate gets a little smaller.
