I was listening to talk radio and an old Chinese man called in who said he lived under early Communism in China before fleeing to Vietnam and living through the same thing and then he came here to America.

This man said the government here is participating in similar activities to brutal communist regimes. Phone taps, checking kid's lunch boxes at school (today), the continuous lying, spending and ignoring the voice of the people...

It really is sad what is going on here today.

Lordknuckle, I would be careful about insulting people.

15 minutes ago you said you believed a graph that claimed the earth's temperature has risen 23 degrees in the last decade.

I never believed the graph. I did not read the previous conversation so I thought that you were presenting an independent piece of evidence instead of mocking your opponent. It was obviously fake.

I don't see any valid reason for you pitying me. Generally, liberal ideology says that they should pity everybody except whites, straights, Catholics, Protestants, Jews, other religious people, those against abortion, those against global warming, and those against affirmative action. Unfortunately for you, I fall in many of those categories and there is no reason for you to pity me.

Pity is simply a self-centred emotion of believing that you are above others and somehow able to "help" them. Some of the blabbering that spills out of your mouth, 00ike, is disturbing to say the least.

I have a teacher who was from Lithuania while it was part of the USSR. She says similar things. She is pretty funny though. Half of her lecture is how she hates communism

Any hopefully my comment will lead to intelligent discussion on the matter. However I suspect the thread will continue to spiral down into a flame war...

I'd be happy to debate you on any topic of your choice. However, you seem to cower at the notion of formally placing your beliefs up for criticism. A few months ago I suggested a debate on IQ requirements for voting, you said you were busy. I've suggested a debate on many things with you before, but, same excuse. Looking at your record, you seem more apt to debate frivolous subjects and some abortion here and there.

For someone so intellectually cowardly, I am genuinely astonished that you have the audacity to accuse someone else of spilling disturbing nonsense.

Has it ever occurred to you that people might have other things in their life then say.... debate.org? I was pressed for time then, and am still pressed for time now. Whenever I get a few weeks break, I would gladly participate in a debate, especially against you.

The only recent sequence of debates that I have participated in was Spinko's tournament, which I won up to the point I forfeited for lack of time.
I would say that these accusations are not very well reasoned coming from you and your atrocious 52% win record.

Lordknuckle, surely you can try to be more constructive by actually responding to the OP (i.e. refuting or discussing the man's comments on US government actions) instead of dabbling in insults all the way through...

The claims sound pretty dubious. He was in China in what, the 1950s? Then he fled to the (at the time) completely agrarian French colony of Vietnam before Ho Chi Minh came to power. Seems like a strange choice given that the U.S. backed capitalists in Taiwan were accepting all comers and he wouldn't have needed to learn another language. Somehow after the Vietnam war he made it to the US and is now a republican. And if he has so much world perspective why is he just spouting contemporary Republican talking points? I mean it's not like the big complaint against the Maoist regime was their "overspending."
Mimshot: I support the 1956 Republican platform
DDMx: So, you're a socialist?
Mimshot: Yes
