That religious idiot called President Obama a "snob" for wanting every American to go to college. Any Republicans that find him justified, I would like to hear your defense of this nonsense... if you have one...

I understand his point, though it's pretty much BS. Disagreeing with how Obama wants to get people to go to college is as I see it, a legitimate comment against him; but the abstract idea of an educated populace isn't necessarily snobbish.

He's obviously pandering to the right here, but it should be clear that not everyone is cut out for college. I'm sorry, but there are some people who are much better working with their hands or going down some other path than receiving a liberal arts education. A liberal arts education in the wrong hands is utterly useless. You're going to go to college someday and you'll realize that there's a wide range of intellect. Practically speaking, some people would just gain more from going directly to the job market like my brother (who was a poor student but excellent in film.)

Filthy aristocrat. His logic is completely fallacious, but at least he has the guts to admit that he wants people to not be able to advance in life. Most Republicans cannot do that.

Just to clarify, I definitely disagree with Obama here. To be frank, a lot of people probably shouldn't even be in Highschool. Like OMG said, sooo many people aren't cut out for college. I dont see anything wrong at all with getting a blue-collar job, or learning a trade elsewhere. Neither of my parents went to college, and they turned out fine.

Well that depends. Do you mean a society in which people are perpetually poor and there is no upward mobility? I wouldn't defend that societies morality.

If you mean a society with poor people who are there because of their lack of skills or intelligence, I don't really see what's immoral about that. I mean it's not that I want people to be poor, but it's the natural order of things that some people end up with the short end of the stick.

But you know, college is no guarantee of success

On the contrary, the more people that go to college, the less and less the guarantee for success is.

I must say, Santorum is making an idiot of himself (again). To be honest, that's probably one of the most un-snobbish things I've ever heard from a politician. It's egalitarian to a fault, which is definitely NOT snobbish.

It is very snobby and, frankly, stupid to push for more government programs to try to get more people to go to college.

Right now, too many people are already going to college. We need more vocational school and specialized skills. Just pouring money into wasteful education programs isn't going to do anything.

Basic economics dictates that allowing everybody to go to college will decrease the quality of life of the citizens of a society. Over saturation in a market will cause the over saturated item to have less value. Therefore, the more people that go to college, the worse it becomes.

So yes, Obama is a snob for wanting to dilute the market.

The govt' should pour more money into higher education. Everything the government touches turns to gold. They've discovered that if you just throw enough money at a problem, it goes away.

Um... Being against the right to college is bad? Name one law that said college is a right. Sure, it may benefit, but the question is should the goverment be involved? Currently the department if education I think spends around 2 billion on aid programs. This plan would increase spending. Also it would increase debts these kids incur ---> stunted success. So it isn't good in that perspective.
http://www.washingtonpost.com...

But this says it saves them 4-7$ per month.
http://www.theblaze.com...'s-college-loan-plan-would-save-avg-borrower…'between-4-50-and-7-75-per-month'/

It may hurt, or barely work while raising costs. I am against it for different reasons then rick. But His view is possible, but unlikely.

I honestly don't understand. Are conservatives against equal opportunities? Cause it certainly seems like they are. How can there be "too many people going to college"? That is like saying "there are too many well-educated people!!!!" Everyone should be able to go to college if they wish. What is snobbish is saying that only some people deserve to go to college.

Supply and demand. More College educated people mean supply goes up, and since the demand is relatively stable the value goes down.

It's not being against equal opportunity and you should know better than to think that it is. Tell me, how has the mentality that everyone has to go to Highschool worked out? Is a highschool degree worth anything? Also, what's wrong with working a blue collar job?
