Ah yes critical thinking at it's pinnacle

Beware of the people who are in your circle but are not in your corner.

And with the stroke of a pen people 18 to 21 who own a gun became criminals and public enemy #1 having committed no crime and having said nothing. Just like the Jews in Germany during WW2. Must be a weird feeling.

When I hear people crying and whining about their first world problems I think about the universe with everything in it and people in wheelchairs and all of their problems go away.

I don't get the point of blogs. Who actually reads them?

Well some people really like to use unfactually based and biased information to make a point....

it only highlights a couple words. It doesnt have a link to the actual law, the actual regulations, or any evidence the hotels are actually closing down pools instead of making a few changes

Well, there's three things I have to say about this.

First, I'm not sure what more they'd need than an extra guard rail or something of that nature to accomodate all handicapped persons with a potential to use the pool in the first place.

Moreover, I think I've ever been in one hotel pool in my entire life. If your vacation is such a fail that you're using any of the entertainment offered by your hotel, then you just completely wasted your money.

It's agreed on by all parties that they want pool lifts. If you follow links around, it's 3000 dollars for a portable one and they aren't even sure if that's enough to cover the regulation.

So in conclusion, the small hotels and privately owned hotels will just close the pool. If a handicap person isn't accomodated no one can use it. Here's one further, A handicapped person can use the pool without a life guard on duty if it has a lift but children 14 and under can't. So basically a kid on the high school football team is incapable of swimming alone in a pool with a lift but a handicapped person can use the pool with no one around all by themselves if it has a lift. This is just the beginning folks, you have not seen anything yet. I work in the construction industry and you have no idea of what's coming down the pike. I will most likely change my career again for the fifth time. It won't be worth the trouble or effort and most of all the legal liabilities.

I would bet a million dollars that the author of this legislation that passed yesterday by the way, has a personal or extended vested interest in the assisted lift chair industry. Watch the stocks of the public companies that sell and manufacture these things it is going to sky rocket. That's a stock tip for you who play the market.

Oh is that how the economy works? The govt mandates that private business comply with idiotic mandates or face criminal fines . Excellent most excellent. I can't wait for the next mandate.

I hope the next mandate prevents even more deaths. I am not just a "human cost" that factors into a business' financial portfolio.

I don't know of how a pool lift has ever saved anyone's life before. If anything it puts people in more danger by enabling them to get in the pool in the first place, where they could potentially drown.

And if you really want to save lives, the next mandate should get rid of pools entirely, shouldn't it? In terms of the number of people who accidentally die as a result of them, swimming pools are among the most dangerous things around.

Yes, that's about right. All the pillars of civilization are actually idiotic mandates.
