He has already called the EU to cut back on AUSTERITY. Really? One meeting with socialist president Hollande and he is already asking for cuts to austerity in Europe.

With a strong "growth" agenda of course AKA a strong government spending plan.

The Euro is sunk.

I was extremely concerned to see that France had elected a socialist president, a mad man who wanted to raise taxes to 75% and lower the retirement age. Europe was on thin ice already, Greece will likely exit the Eurozone (http://www.nytimes.com...) and from what I'm hearing, the Germans are pretty pissed to have to be fronting the bills for the irresponsibility of the other powers. This is very dire.

I'm disappointed that Obama would cave, but what could we expect? The man wants the U.S. to be just like Europe. Let this be a lesson to us, both on the idiotic nature of shared currencies, and socialism.

Interesting.

If Greece leaves the Eurozone their recovery will take a very, very long time. They'll have to revert back to their old currency won't they? It'll take time for it to build value again while their government and people will still be broke.

That will be a death blow for Greece.

Probably, but what do they have to lose? The fear is, I believe (and not unfounded), that the European economy is going to tank anyway. They'll likely do poorly, but at the very least they'll regain their sovereignty.

And they won't drag the Euro down immediately. Germany is scared they'll be dragged down with the rest of the idiots in Europe. Which they will if the Euro tanks.

It isn't a matter of if, but when. They might make it through this crisis, and even the next, but in the end they can't escape their past. The wasteful spending and socialism will catch up with them. As will ours.
