Recently, I have been undergoing a sort of epiphany on the issue of gun control. As of this moment, I am middle-of-the road - I used to despise the idea of carry laws, but now I'm not really sure one way or the other. I need to be convinced. I don't care if you convince me pro or con.

The major premise to remember is that conceal/open carry laws only affect one specific group of people: the law abiding citizens. Those that fear the government's wrath upon them if they don't comply with the laws will surely be the ones the most affected. However, these laws don't affect criminals in the same way that drug laws don't affect drug dealers. Regardless of the laws, these criminals will still conceal carry weapons.

The distinction comes on whether you want solely criminals to carry weapons, or if you want both criminals and law abiding citizens to carry weapons. The latter choice will ensure a lesser incentive for criminals to perpetrate crimes and the ability of citizens to defend against criminals.

In fact, when looking at all the empirical data, it shows that when laws advocating conceal/open carry of guns are enacted, crime goes down.

Law abiding citizens are not going to arbitrarily perpetrate violence against random people with guns. They will use these guns to defend against threats.

As long as their gun is registered in a ballistics database along with their biometric information, I'm fine with concealed or open carry with restrictions (ex. private places or government buildings can ban firearms being on their grounds and discharging a weapon in public without cause is made a fineable offense).

Agreed.
