Just when you thought you had seen it all. A group of New York City teens were visiting for the first time around, the 9/11 Memorial. After a visit there, some claimed to have fallen victim to boredom. As a result, they once again resorted
to stupidity. See this website for more information and click on the link
titled -----------> US.
The Heading is NYC Teens Trash 9/11 Memorial. What do you think about this
latest display of utter disrespect for the dead. Is this what our millenium
generation has come to.

Not like this. Find a story where a Generation Xer or Baby Boomer trashed
the War Memorial Cemetary in Arlington, MD. I doubt that you can.

Their parents should have taught them better. The old generation were terrible parents.

Well news stories from that long ago tend to be harder to find. Its not like you can do a google search for all news articles during that time period. And I'm not exactly going to scroll through old newspapers to find it.

And your news story still hasn't linked in.

The 9/11 memorial is not a war memorial.

Previous generations disrespected the dead all the time. The practice stems from ancient times . . . read either the Iliad or the Odyssey for fantastic examples.

Maybe. But not in this manner. This is a sign of how this current generation, people 18 and under have lost respect for humanity. No offense. But this is a signn of the times.

I don't see how this is as bad as chopping up people's bodies and feeding them to dogs and vultures or dragging their bodies around naked.

That situation is irrelevent. I am speaking about events that took place during after the Industrial Revolution. Not when people were barbaric and uncivillized.

The USS Arizona Memorial would have been a close.

Previous generations disrespected the dead all the time. The practice stems from ancient times . . . read either the Iliad or the Odyssey for fantastic examples.

Actually the practice of respecting the dead stems from ancient times. Disrespecting the dead was fawned upon, but common between people who hated each other. If you are referring to Achilles' treatment of Hector, that was because Achilles could not control his temper, and Hector killed Patroclus thinking it was Achilles. Hector eventually was given funeral rights because Priam with the help of Hermes, convinced Achilles to allow Hector funeral rights. The fact Hermes intervened was a sign that Achilles' denying Hector funeral rights was frowned upon.
The Greeks believed those who were disrespected in death, such as not being granted funeral rights, or having their corpse mutilated, would become ghosts unable to cross the river Styx into the afterlife. In Christianity, if a corpse is mutilated it can't be resurrected at the end of days. In Egypt by mutilating the corpse, statue or paintings of the dead the dead become mutilated in the afterlife. If you see a statue of a pharaoh, with it's nose, mouth, eyes, and ears intentionally mutilated; you know someone had it out for the pharaoh.

The Greeks were civilized; the Roman and Greek societies are the basis of the modern civilized world. The Romans and Greeks also emphasized respect for the dead in their mythology. Demonizing people who disrespect the dead, and even going so far as to suggest intervention by the Gods to make sure the dead were granted respect.

This is not teen rebellion. The reaction you see nowdays come from idleness, debauchery, infilitration of toxicity, hyperactive media images, virtual reality,
and negative energy. I know that this may be too deep for you to understand or grasp. But to put it in a nutshell. You are witnessing the dumbing down of
American culture. Period.
