Challenge to Communists and Socialists

Here is my challenge to communists and socialists. I want you to name one example of a large scale some what moder socialist society that has actually improved the lot of the working man.

There will be a hefty reward if someone can give an example.
As a general rule, you'll find that, when a conservative is talking about policy, history, economics, or something serious, liberals are nowhere to be found. But, as soon as a conservative mentions Obama's birthplace or personal life, liberals are everywhere, only to dissappear again when evidence enters the discussion.

I am a progressive not a socialist, but a good example is Scandanavia.

Shall I be the one to burst the bubble of lack of precedence doesn't make an argument correct? But the best examples are Scandinavia and France. And Spain, actually.
Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to be Gay, he'll positively influence the GDP.

I wouldn't really call Scandinavia socialist.
