I have drifted to the dark side. I am now a Libertarian Democrat. However, now I have a problem. Whose side do you root for in the 2012 election?

Insofar as Obama will make concessions to his party on civil liberties, Obama if you care more about social freedoms. To the extent that Romney isn't potentially secretly attached to his former moderation, Romney if you think economic freedom is more important.

LOL, as if the right don't have an urge to control people. The only difference between Democrats and Republicans is that Democrats want government in the boardroom and Republicans want government in the bedroom.

First of all, what is a Libertarian Democrat. You mean Left Libertarian?

Secondly, if you are asking which side to root for in this election, clearly you aren't even a Libertarian in the first place. Here's a hint, both sides are fascist so how could a Libertarian support either? Vote Gary Johnson.

Mostly here. ^

Assuming left libertarianism is like anarcho-socialism, I am not supportive of that.

Secondly, if you are asking which side to root for in this election, clearly you aren't even a Libertarian in the first place. Here's a hint, both sides are fascist so how could a Libertarian support either? Vote Gary Johnson.

Both Obama and Romney aren't favorable to me, as they both support the military industrial complex, big business, big government, and all that crap. They just differ somewhat on economic and social issues, such as oil drilling.

I don't know the positions of Gary Johnson yet. I'll have to find out.

Well I guess moderate republican would be a better word for it. Like someone who is fiscally conservative but socially liberal. I think that the difference between conservative democract (LBJ for instance) and liberal republican is that social issues are more important to democrats, and economic issues are more important to republicans, so a if he was fiscally liberal and socially conservative (Reagan I guess. Kind of) then that would make him a conservative democrat.

I think thats most people nowadays

I think that the difference between conservative democract (LBJ for instance) and liberal republican is that social issues are more important to democrats, and economic issues are more important to republicans

Both are important to both parties, its just that they prioritize differently when circumstances are normal. Trust me though, during a recession as bad as this one Democrats and Republicans alike devote their full attention to the economy while social issues takes a back seat

so a if he was fiscally liberal and socially conservative (Reagan I guess. Kind of) then that would make him a conservative democrat.

Why do you need an ideology to define yourself in its entirety? I've always thought of myself as a optimistically realpolitik libertarian in shortest of phrases in order to define my position politically.
