You can run as senator from any state that is NOT your home state and are GUARANTEED TO WIN. The question is, which state do you pick?

Personally I would pick New York. California is a close second

I'd say California, but then it would require me to live in Sacramento (barf).

Vermont.

Socialist>Libertarian is the most marginal gain to be made with this magic senate election.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

Ummm, not sure why it would matter, since whatever state you come from you are going to work in the same congress. The only real advantage I can think of is in taking a seat from an opponent (like a democrat should choose Texas to take away a republican seat, rather than choosing California to take a democrat seat).

I thought about that. But then I realized that I would care more about my likelihood of being reelected than political advantage. Politicians gonna politiciate.

There is no requirement to live in the state capital. California's Sen. Feinstein doesn't even have an office in Sacramento. she was once mayor of San Francisco and is married to a weathy San Francisco real estate investor, so presume she lives in San Francisco. Of course, Senators spend most of their time in D.C. and have a second home there.

There are a few Congressmen who cannot afford a second home in Washington. Paul Ryan sleeps on a cot in his office.

Since each Senator has exactly one vote, the state doesn't matter much. I suppose taking a seat from opponents would be a consideration. However, I would choose Maryland or Virginia to minimize the time spent commuting to the home district. Maryland would deny libs a seat as well.

Which ever state is most socialist, so America would be less collectivist, and less radical.

BS on the Paul Ryan part. He can afford a place in Washington.
